The Joy of Harvesting your OWN food

*This post is one of my older ones which I’ve brought over from my old blog but I want to keep everything together and let you see the progression…hopefully!

Enjoy….

Well well, its been a while hasn’t it?!

Have you been busy too?

The garden (and allotment) keeps on going, even though the temperatures are dropping rapidly but I thought it would be a good time to show some of the successes this year has brought – don’t expect me to show you the failures, we don’t know each other well enough for that!

Success Number 1:

Ok – a few tomatoes you might be thinking. Point is, I never do well with them so this is a major win for me. Did get a few more than this but these were the prettiest!

Next year I’ll get it…..

Success number 2:

Oh drink it in my friend……..

I haven’t decided what to do with the marrow…was thinking chutney but I checked and I have a cupboard full!

Success number 3:

I know…cauliflower, right? I can’t be the only one this veg hates.

Blueberries, anyone?

Tree spinach looks great but I can never keep up with it. By the way if you do consider growing it, its worth knowing that when they reach this stage the roots are thick and HUUUGE!

Meanwhile, at the back garden….

Courgette in a big pot

Salad mix

My first plums!!! Well hidden but I can assure you they are there (small and yellow)

As you can see, we’ve had a lot of success this year, and I haven’t even shown you the herbs, potatoes, onions, flowers, the bees….I could (and often do) go on.

Heres to next years cropping – which I’m already planning – growing No Dig style thanks to the advice from Mr Charles Dowding.

Still lots to learn and try…and I can’t wait!!
