I Need a Bigger Plate

(Workloads and expectations)

You know that expression “I’ve got enough on my plate”? Well, I’ve realised my problem – I just need a bigger plate.

Everybody is busy aren’t they? If you want to test that theory, just suggest to someone you know, some new ‘thing’ they should try/read/visit and they’ll tell you they’d love to but they’re “just too busy”. When is the last time you heard anyone say they wished they had more to do?

I’m a busy person too: as part of being a wife/carer and mother/homeschooler, my day includes all the usual household stuff like; cleaning; cooking; shopping; meal prep; laundry; dog walking – but I’m also the sole driver, the gardener (garden and allotment), secretary and wine maker!! All while I have a wish to find a suitable space for me in the blogging/Youtube world.

Find your niche they say. What is my niche other than being me and doing the work of 2 people everyday! Not to mention my developing interests which currently take me to the kitchen and garden for fermenting foods, herbal remedies and the like.

I’ve discovered its all well and good hankering for the ‘more simple life’ but that, as it turns out, involves a lot of work – good work, but its still work. So with all these things to tend to and to make sure I don’t miss anything out, I’ve decided I just need a bigger plate – something with enough room for everything and a little space to be left in case I discover something else I want to try…

Plate making might be the next skill I need to focus on!
