A series of fortunate events

We recently decided to get a new mattress, without giving too much thought about what to do with the old one (or how we were going to pay for it but I’ll gloss over that part).

A week of heavenly sleep and sideling past it to get to my side of the bed later, I decided to take it to the dump since nobody wanted it on the freebie sites I had advertised it on. So I enlisted the help of dearest son as I wasn’t sure about getting the mattress into the car on my own.

“We’ll fold it in half and you sit on it while I try and tie rope around it”, says I.

We folded it in half and because of all the ancient springs in it, the mattress folded like a well-made sandwich.

“Oooh that was lucky”, says I.

We got it into the car with ease and even managed to have room for dearest son’s old computer chair. Off we went to the dump.

I managed the mattress by myself while my assistant wandered around like a car boot pro. That was when he spotted an office chair that was in much better condition that the one we just dumped.

“What a lucky find”, says he.

Naturally we whisked it into the boot before we could be told not to.

Then as I was rummaging through a box, (I considered it a civic duty), I spotted a PS3 game which the dear boy didn’t have!

So all in all a very fortunate series of events – it doesn’t happen often but I love it when it does!
