Top 10 Movies For Halloween

In keeping with the Halloween theme, I thought I’d give you a list of 10 great movies you should be watching this Halloween. They range from brilliantly entertaining to downright terrifying.

  Enjoy if you dare……..

1. Beetlejuice – yes it’s old but still enjoyable (even if it has a couple of actors in it I can’t stand personally!)

2. Sleepy Hollow – The Johnny Depp film – again, quite old now but I only saw it this year and absolutely loved it. Dearest son really enjoyed it too.

3. Deliver us from evil – Eric Bana stars with Edgar Ramirez. They say it’s based on a true story about a cop and a priest who end up working together and if you look the people up online that does seem to be what happened. I’ll be honest, this film scares the poop out of me – don’t watch this alone!

4. Army of Darkness – get yer boomsticks ready! Bruce Campbell classic movie which is just great entertainment. I love it….and so does Dearest son.

5. Lost Boys – classic vampire flick – great acting, great script and an all round enjoyable ‘vamp fest’.

6. Dog Soldiers – “Short, controlled bursts” – if you want to know more about my favourite film, read my post entitled, “5 Films you probably haven’t seen…but should!” or listen to the podcast episode here:https://MySliceofLife.podbean.com/e/movies-you-probably-haven-t-seenbut-should/ you’ll also find out about some other great films well worth a watch).

7. Bubba Ho-Tep – Bruce Campbell again. This time he is Elvis, working with JFK (who has been dyed to look like a black man), to fight an Egyptian mummy feeding off the souls of the residents in the old folks’ home they live in. I wish I’d written it!

8. The Wicker Man – original version with Edward Woodward (I like the Nick Cage version too but prefer the original). Scotland is no stranger to tales of the weird and unexplained and this cult classic captures that feeling brilliantly.

9. Fright Night – Colin Farrell version. Been a while since I’ve seen it but I remember being pleasantly surprised and impressed by it….and a little scared!

10. Dead Snow – great subtitled movie – Nazi gold and the Nazi zombies who stop at nothing to get it back. Scenery and acting are great – we’ve watched this several times…it even has a great sequel!

That’s my list……

What’s your favourite scary movie?
