I have a guest author today who has written 2 poems, in memory of John F Kennedy and Lee Harvey Oswald. Events in Dallas 60 years ago should not be forgotten and are still being investigated by many today.
John F Kennedy
On that fateful day in Dallas
In the fall of ’63
Engraved forever in my heart and memory
Millions full of sorrow at this insanity
He gave us hope and vision
Shone light on humanity
He stood against the tyrant
Freedom his final frontier
The tears still flow after so many years
Why oh why the world did cry
Was this bright light extinguished
Taken from us so young, so premature
The dreams asleep in Camelot
Excalibur beneath the waves
The eternal flame as with his name
Will burn and live forever
Lee Harvery Oswald
You were pilloried and crucified, your name blackened by history
Your family to this very day suffer and bear their pain in silence
The loss of your life applauded by many and welcomed by most
Yet the truth lays still buried, much to America and History’s shame
The lies remain forever embedded within the social and political maze
For you were part of their plot, a victim of their untruths and deceit
Many try to find a path through the spiders web of conspiracy
You were a foot soldier to be used and discarded by the real masters
Treasonous acts wrapped in silk and put forth to the unknowing
They dare call it Democracy where people can lose their very lives
When the truth is hidden through violence fear and silence
They dare call it Democracy when the peoples voices go unheard
We should not forget November 1963, we should not forget Kennedy
Nor should we forget Lee Harvey Oswald, himself a victim
A victim of traitors liars and cheats, they know who they are
They took control not through the ballot but by the use of bullets.
