I’ve got a quick story to end the week with and it blows my mind.
I won’t go into details of exactly who or exactly where – it will soon become obvious why.
There was a young man who had a house (big enough for a family to live in) and it was a very busy house. In fact, if you didn’t know better, you would think he was a very popular man with all the visitors he had, all day and sometimes well into the night too. I believe his lifestyle would be classed as ‘chaotic’ – although borderline illegal would be more accurate – and that’s without mentioning how he treated the girlfriends (one was seen running out in her pjs screaming for help but that’s another story).
He was also a dog lover – those big scary dogs you read about in the paper after they’ve mauled someone to death. Oh how he loved having those dogs in the house – never walked them but that was ok because the biggest one could jump the fence and walk herself (frequently).
Then one day, he disappeared – just a ghost and the poor house lay empty for a long time.
Eventually, people came to check the house and found it was the most disgusting, dirty, wrecked house they’d ever seen. In fact, it needed to be rebuilt inside, pretty much all over. Mattresses were kicked down the stairs as they were too disgusting to pick up, the smell of urine everywhere was stomach turning – a large job indeed to get the place habitable again.
Now, you would think some sort of punishment would be in order for someone who caused this much damage to a Council property – especially since the waiting list for a house in that area is years long. So what punishment befell the subject of this tale?
THEY GAVE HIM ANOTHER HOUSE IN THE SAME TOWN!
I kid you not. Now you can think me judgemental if you like but there are homeless veterans in this country who are desperate for a place like this and young families living in terrible conditions. I would just prefer these people to be housed first and I don’t think that’s an unreasonable request.
