Don’t you find that day to day, it’s the little things which bring you the most happiness?
To be clear here, I’m putting family and health to the side as they are pretty major things in my mind. I’m also not including wealth – have you seen how miserable the truly wealthy look these days?
I’m talking about the little things that we do in a day which bring us a moment of peace, happiness or calm. Take today for example, I decided to do a little baking to use up our squishy horrible looking bananas. I made banana and walnut muffins plus a little mini slab with the bit I had left over which I’m thinking will be great with custard tomorrow night for pudding.
I then thought I hadn’t made scones in a while and I had looked out the recipe so I made them too – which meant I had to make the quick raspberry jam. BIG thank you to Tootlepedal’s blog for that one!
As I stood at the kitchen counter looking at the sunken roof of my DIY polytunnel (which is full of happy plants despite the building failures), tucking into a warm scone dripping with home-made jam, I felt truly happy.
The other day, we went to the allotment and despite the task which faced me:

I felt happy and calm. Everything was so peaceful around me with just a bird chirping here and there. Despite the great weather, there weren’t many other plotters out there which was a surprise but one I was very happy about.
If you would like to get just a taste of what I’m talking about, I will include a short video I took at the time. It lasts less than a minute but I think you will getter a clearer idea of how I felt! As you watch, please give a thought about what has brought you happiness today.
