Gardening isn’t just about the vegetables and flowers.
We had a pretty short visit to the plot this week and even though I hadn’t been up for over a week, it wasn’t looking too drastic.
I was needing the time there. I don’t know if it’s the clock change or the temperature noticeably dropping but I was needing a mood boost. By the end of Saturday night, I was most definitely in a dip and knew as soon as I woke up that the best medicine would be soil and weeds!
I’ll be honest though, it was still a struggle. We didn’t go till later than I wanted – Dearest Son comes with me but never ‘wants’ to come so drags his heels and sometimes it causes a lot of stress. I really didn’t need that so I sat in the car till he was ready to leave.
The light on the plot was gorgeous and I still managed to find some colour to add some cheer.

Lazarus, the cucumber plant is no more but that’s to be expected at this time of the year. I need to remember to take up some water for the garlic in the polytunnel.
We were continuing our work on the peas/beans area and got another corner done despite our fingers starting to feel the cold. The soil was quite damp and the grassy weeds didn’t want to leave!
I also managed to harvest some carrots, small onions, kale, cabbage, a couple of beans and a bit of broccoli.

We are slowly getting there! On the other side we still have a lot of crops in so that won’t be empty for some time yet. Oh and one last thing: Dearest Son loved the visit (as usual) and spent quite some time playing with the robin!
