Growth in the garden!

I haven’t done a gardening update for a while and there has been a lot happening. For one, I’ve made a new friend in the garden!

First of all, I’ll show you what I’ve had to deal with on the plot. I swear, my workload would be cut down if other people were just a little more thoughtful. I have weeds coming through the fence behind my plot which I’m sure that plot holder could reach a lot easier than I can! The main weeds/plants there are nettles, willowherb (I think), spreading buttercup and raspberries. 3 of these spread quite willingly and have been popping up in the polytunnel. Drastic action had to be taken.

I don’t have much room at the side so this was tricky:

Sadly, since we’ve done this, I haven’t seen my red chopper things which I use a lot. I’ve looked everywhere so I think the next allotment visit will include taking the blue plastic out again to look for them! It is very heavy and I definitely need the help of Dearest Son.

On the day we did this, the sky wasn’t looking too bright:

This was on the second day of ‘Summer’!!

But it didn’t pour on us too heavily thankfully. Still waiting for the thunder storms we were promised last week.

In the garden, I have really been putting some effort in to get jobs done and I think it’s starting to show. We only have a small garden but I’m trying to grow lots while still leaving room for us to sit and Scooby to lounge about in.

The polytunnel is filling up nicely. The tomatoes are mainly red robin which is a cherry tomato but I do have a few larger types there too which need potted on. I’ve recently moved a few tomatoes up to the polytunnel on the plot.

I have some aubergines (egg plants) but they don’t seem to be doing all that much at the moment.

I’m happy. There are flowers, there is colour and interest which was my goal for this year. If I can just get my strimmer line sorted I can finish the tidying up!

Hope you’ve enjoyed this wee catch-up. I seem to spend so long doing these things that by the time I come in and get to sit down, I’m too tired to show you what I’ve been doing! Hopefully this will improve as the urgent jobs lessen. Till next time – keep on gardening!

    1. Thank you. To be honest, I feel I’ve been going non-stop. Just hope the plants/bugs/birds appreciate it!
