Unable to make a decision

I thought I’d made my mind up – then I changed it again!

Some of you will know I’ve done a podcast for the last 2 years and am currently taking a break for July and August to figure out what I’m going to do with it next.

Here’s the truth: I’m not sure!

I thought I’d go back to it after a creative break, filled with ideas, having had feedback from listeners etc etc.

Then I thought I would do a full rebrand, niche down to a specific topic I really want to talk about instead of covering so many different ones.

Then I thought, I’d take a full year off, to enjoy listening to podcasts, do research, finish other projects etc (I still have a poetry book going through the editing process).

Honestly, I’ve had no feedback from listeners so at this point, I don’t feel like it’s something I should be continuing in it’s current format. And to be even more honest, I’ve felt kind of weird about it ever since some lassie started a podcast with EXACTLY the same name (rude but she thought ‘cute’).

I was thinking about relaunching on Halloween – that’s a clue to the subject matter right there! But now, I think I just need to take a break from the mic, concentrate on other things and see how I feel next Summer.

I would truly welcome your thoughts on this: have you ever walked away from a project? I keep thinking I’ve made my mind up then I change it again and that tells me I haven’t got a clear will to fire up a new one – yet.

Maybe next year?

  1. I find my projects are cyclical as with life. When I cannot give my projects 100%, I take a break.

    1. That’s a great rule to live by – and very helpful. Thanks Pauline.
