Gardening in January

I’ve been trying to nip out to the garden for 20 or 30 minutes regularly to sort out the borders at the front. I ordered a pack of bulbs when they were on sale before Christmas – 160 of them, so I’ve been sticking them in everywhere!

I took pictures to show you what I’ve done so far, and in case you think I’ve gone mad, the black netting I’ve put down is to stop the neighbourhood cats thinking I’ve cleaned out their big outdoor litter tray, just for them!

This was the first bit I cleared and netted – its where the rhubarb grows.

And After!
Mess number 3 (before)
And After!
I can’t tell you how cold I was by the time I finished!

Now I’ve just got the other side to do – I’ll keep you posted on progress! I’m really hoping the bulbs grow well because if they do we are going to have a lot of flowers and colour this year. I try to add a few in every year to build it up as there was no border here at all when we moved in.

I’ll be keeping a close eye on the weather forecast over the next few days to see when I can fit in some work to get the other side finished as I still have a lot to do on the allotment and our homeschool starts again next week…..help!!!!
