At the beginning of the weekend, I didn’t think I would be getting much done. We did get a thunder storm on Friday afternoon and I was sure that was to set the tone for the next few days. I wasn’t far wrong!
Some indoor jobs were necessary so I was pleased to get the aubergines and chilli plants potted up. I also made a start on a couple of new wines – a coffee one and a mix of rhubarb, apricots and elderberries. I haven’t made any for a while so that made a nice change of activity.
Since then, we’ve had rain, I mean lot’s of rain. I’ve been diving in and out of the garden to try and get things done when I can. So on Sunday, when I saw a dry spell after dinner, I ran out to grab my brassica trays and a couple of squashes and was allotment bound before you could say ‘it’s raining again’.
I was a little disheartened to see the area I was to work on had a very healthy spread of new weeds on it. I had cleared it just a couple of weeks ago but I needed to get the hoops up and the brassicas out so I started on the task and kept at it!
I’ll start with some photos of the work I’m doing in the garden. I have decided I need a little pond to go with the fairy garden and we brought a tyre down from the allotment the other day.

Rain put a stop to further development of my fairy pond.
Meanwhile, on the allotment news:

I did manage to get some runner beans, pumpkins, courgettes and a turks turban squash all planted out so I came home quite the happy camper. Dearest Son was very helpful as he did a good job with some of the weeding and earthing up some of the potatoes too.
I’m hoping to get back up a couple of times a week so I’ll bring you more updates when I have them.
On that note, however, there will be a slight change to the blog for the time-being as I’m going to be posting 3 times a week (mon, wed, fri) instead of 5 times. I’m not sure if this will be a permanent thing but it’s a necessary move at the moment.
