Garden herbs and summer fruits – the harvest begins

At last I am able to get out into the garden and start bringing in some of our home-grown goodies.

Today, I got a load of herbs which I will probably dry although I used some fresh for the soup I made for dinner.

My sage is growing really well which I love but the stars today are definitely the berries and red-currants.

I will be picking more fruit from the allotment over the next few days. Some will be used fresh but most will be frozen as I find this the easiest way of storing my fruit until I’m ready to use it. I have some more rhubarb to use which I’ll be making my cordial with, over the weekend.

We have officially finished home-school for the year so I can finally get a few projects finished. Fingers crossed I’ll get some done over the weekend and I’ll be able to share these with you very soon.

    1. The soup was great, I now believe a lot more things should smell like sage and the rasps will be split between jam making and home-made wine!
