Please tell me I’m not the only one finding it hard to ‘stop’ in the summer! Weeds keep growing, plants need tended to, grass needs cut, house to be cleaned, days out, teenager to keep busy….on and on it goes.
Hard work looks like it’s paying off on the plot though:

For the first time this year, when I opened the polytunnel door, everything was still there from the last visit! I’ve had to re-plant one side at least 3 times now but I waited for the plants to get big and tough enough to resist attack and I think that strategy has worked!
I also have a new experiment – sweet potatoes. Something I’ve never grown before as the slips are so expensive to buy but I’ve been following advice from other people who know a lot more than me about the subject and the other day, I took the plunge and planted them in their new home.

I know many people plant them in large pots or bags but I didn’t have any so in the ground they went. I’m not expecting much but I’ll keep you up-to-date on their progress, good or bad.
I haven’t managed to varnish my ‘new’ chairs yet but I did get the pictures onto the computer to show you what they looked like when I was sanding them, or one of them anyway:

I’m hoping to show you something I’ve been working on for ages, very soon as I’m just about finished! If that isn’t worth coming back for, well I don’t know what is.
