This isn’t the post I was going to do for today but I’m so excited I had to share my news. We were up at the allotment today, working hard and I was pulling weeds at one side of the fence. The lady in the plot next door doesn’t weed much so it gets difficult.
Just as I pulled some couch grass, I noticed a small mound of earth move and this is who I saw:

He was very small which is what made me think frog but now that I can actually get a good look at him, he does look a little bumpy-skinned so I’m thinking toad.
What do you think? Frog or toad?
I couldn’t get any closer with the camera as he wasn’t completely happy (or hoppy) that I was there so I zoomed in best I could for a snap.
I stopped pulling the weeds there and pushed some soil back, then put the small board of wood back in place to cover him. I confess, I was very excited when I saw him (as you can probably imagine).
I’ll go back up and see if I can find him at the weekend. Quick plot update though: the sweet potatoes still look alive, the peas are so heavy they’ve fallen over, I have a pathetic cauliflower which hasn’t formed correctly so I’ll take that out at the weekend but all in all, it’s looking good. The fruit areas need a real good weeding so guess what I’ll be doing on Saturday?!
Happy gardening and frog/toad finding everyone.
