No Idea

I had no idea what I was going to tell you about today except I wanted it to be something cheerful for the weekend.

I am still struggling with shoulder and neck pain although it has improved a little but the back must have been feeling left out and tried it’s best to join in! However, that was after a trip to the allotment and a shopping trip so I shouldn’t be surprised.

The last time I was at the plot I let myself feel beaten by the weeds but today I was determined to go with a different attitude. I had already decided main weeding would be done when we harvest and today I thought I would try to make improvements to the brassica patch. I couldn’t believe it when I realised I had pretty much cleared the whole bay! All I have to do now is put some more compost on it (I’ve already done some of that). But what I really wanted to share with you was my visitor to the plot.

While I was weeding and harvesting and Dearest Son was continuing to do a brilliant job on the potato patch, we noticed some movement. Here are a few pics to show you.

To say he came close would be an understatement! His cheery wee song and happy bounce was enough to make me want to stay longer and complete my gardening tasks. I noticed on a couple of occasions he seemed to be a little wary of some bigger birds nearby and actually came closer to me! I can honestly say my soul has been well fed by this little guy’s very welcome visit.

When our little robin left, I felt I had done enough for the day.

This had been full of weeds!

I took out all of the cauliflowers and some other brassicas which were clearly showing signs of club root. Hopefully I’ll get the compost put down over the weekend.

We left just in time as although we’d had brilliant sunshine, it got cloudier very quickly and a mist descended in minutes.

I didn’t mind though as I’d felt I’d done enough and had a small harvest to take home!

Happy Weekend Everyone!

  1. It is always good to see a robin at this time of year. We have just heard the first one in our garden.

    1. It was like this little guy wouldn’t leave me alone! He stayed so close and when he heard bigger birds he came even closer – and stayed by my side for ages. I couldn’t have been happier.
