I noticed some baby aloe vera plants (pups) growing from my big mama plant and I left them for quite a long time. However, they got so big I decided to remove them the other day and grow them on.
I dug my fingers down into the soil slightly and gently separated them from ‘Mama’, then left the 3 of them to dry slightly for a couple of days. Then I got some succulent compost (a first for me as I’ve always used multi-purpose) and some pots and got to work.

I have put up a video on my YouTube channel if you want to watch how I did it instead of reading about it!
I also have a lovely little succulent which I grew from another plant using the same method.

These plants are so easy to propagate and people seem surprised I can get such good results in the North East of Scotland but I grow them on a South facing window and they seem perfectly fine. Also, I do water them – they are from the cactus family but that means they can survive without water, not that they should!!
I’ve been growing them for years and they seem happy with the little I do for them. Not sure what to do about the Mama plant though as I can’t fit a bigger pot on the windowsill!
