A Little Plot Time

We managed a quick trip on the 15th October.

I don’t expect to get masses of work done at the allotment at this time of year – it’s pretty cold and we are racing the light when we go up during the week.

However, I finally got the last of the weeds out of the old potato bay and raked it over.

The fruit corner will be one of the last areas to get cleared as their growth has slowed so much.

We moved onto the bay where the runner beans are still growing, although their days are numbered too!

We cleared the old wooden hoops and decided to manure both bays at the same time once this one is done as we can walk straight across it now that the wooden dividers have been removed.

We cut the 2 pumpkins we managed to grow this year and were busy working away but got distracted:

After the geese left, we tried to clear a bit more and we were pretty happy with what we achieved. Dearest Son attacked the weeds outside the gate beside the main path and I’m very grateful that job is off the list now.

I added the after picture again so you can compare what we got done!

The bit left on this patch shouldn’t take long now and I’ve realised I have some garlic which I must get in now. I have a patch where I tried to grow celery but it was pathetic so I’ll be pulling it all out and putting the garlic in there.

Hoping to get back up for another visit over the next couple of days. I really enjoy working on the plot at this time of year – it’s quiet, the light is amazing and the birds are always a welcome distraction.
