Autumnal skies on the plot

I also finally got the last of the garlic planted in the polytunnel.

I am aware our clocks go back here in the UK, this weekend which is great for my sleep but not so great for my ability to get to the allotment during the week. As it is, we are racing the sunset on the plot, to get jobs done and out the gate in some sort of daylight.

Our latest visit was no different! We were productive though as we managed to clear the polytunnel by taking all the old plants out, weeding both sides and I got the last of the garlic in. I haven’t grown garlic in there before but as my crop rotted away in the winter last year, I thought it was time to put 100% effort in. Actually, I had never thought of growing it in there before for some reason but after talking to other gardeners, I found out it is the thing to do. I am just late to the party – as usual!

The only plant we left in the polytunnel was Lazarus as he is still attempting to grow 2 more cucumbers. They are both very small, spiky and cute. I’ll check on him over the weekend but the time to say our goodbyes is quickly coming and I’m not looking forward to it.

At some point I heard the call to look up. So I did and once again, I was rewarded with the sight of many geese heading off.

I was only too aware we were losing light but as the sun lowered in the sky, the trees and site in general were bathed in a light I found so beautiful, tools were downed and I thought you would appreciate the views.

And I’ll leave you with some exciting news: on Friday Dearest Son and I are going to our first ever Pumpkin patch! Don’t laugh, I am excited about it. When I was young I would see them in American films and thought the idea of going to a huge field to pick a pumpkin would be such an amazing thing to do at this time of year. I found out this week that there is one not far from us! This is their second year and as far as I’m aware, this is the last weekend for picking a pumpkin and it’s free to get in. Can you guess what Monday’s post will be about?

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend. X

    1. Thank you – and thank you for the heads up cos I don’t check my spam much these days! Funny tho cos when I take pictures like this I think of people I know through the blog, like you, who won’t get to see them. It’s so nice to have that connection.

And yes, I really do so appreciate the pics and the different views and connection! 😊 I love to see how you live, with all the different people we interact with, and you get a first-person view of that. It’s funny because we are all different, but similar in lots of ways 😊 definitely keep taking those pictures! πŸ“·
