When a message keeps coming your way, you better start paying attention.
I say that because for the last week or so, I’ve been noticing the word ‘Gratitude’ more and more. In fact it’s everywhere: in my emails, newsletters I’ve subscribed to, YouTube videos, search results – everywhere I look in fact.
I get it – I need to take some time and be actively grateful.
MESSAGE RECEIVED!
So, with that being said, I thought I’d share with you, 3 things which I am grateful for today and I would love it if you would share your top 3 with me.
- My light box or S.A.D box, whatever you want to call it. It’s been a real pick-me-up recently. It feels like we only have 30 minutes of bright light here a day so this little beauty allows me to dream of sunshine and warm Summer days, while I sit at my table! And I am feeling better for it so I am very grateful for that.
- I’m grateful for the internet. Truly, I am. It’s my connection to the outside world and I use it frequently. I use it for teaching when the need arises, I use it for research, I use it for entertainment and I use it for my own endeavours from blogging to podcasting and video posting on YouTube. I am grateful to have that connection and it let’s me know what’s going on in the world, like presidential elections!
- My family. I’m grateful I have people who can make me laugh, be honest with me and listen to my stupid jokes and appreciate them! I’m grateful we all share a love of movies and can talk about them for ages. I’m grateful we all share an interest in politics and can talk about that for ages too. I’m also grateful they show me appreciation every day. For example, after every meal, Dearest Son thanks me for making his food and tells me how much he enjoyed it. He’ll make a great husband one day!
And that is what I’m grateful for and what I’ve been thinking about lately. I think, instead of focussing on the negative, people in general would be a little happier if they tried to find more things they can be grateful for. Will your life ever be perfect? Of course not. So we have to find the things that we can appreciate in our lives, no matter our situation. It can take a little effort and I know for the more pessimistic among us, it will feel more challenging but that’s probably all the more reason to do it.
There’s one more thing I’m grateful for.
I’m grateful to you for reading my thoughts today! What 3 things are you grateful for?
