I haven’t done a daily prompt in a while and since it’s Friday and I find this kind of funny, I thought I would share.
When I was much much younger, around 8 or 9 I think but I don’t remember exactly, we were taken to Turnberry Golf Course. Don’t get me wrong – I hate golf but they were having a celebrity golf tournament so off we went.
We saw a few people there like the boxer Henry Cooper and I would have met Sir Douglas Bader but one of his security guys shooed me away like a bug.
The person we did meet, and go around the course with was…..Telly Savalas – KOJAK himself! I can’t tell you how exciting it was for me. Every shot he took was watched and applauded by me, my sister and one of her friends. And I mean every shot!
At one point, my sister’s friend got very excited and applauded so much, Mr Savalas turned round to her, smiled and very sweetly said, “Thank you honey” – it made her year!
That’s all I remember but that memory has stayed with me for many years – glad I got an opportunity to share it with you.
