Be Still

Be still, my mind.

Stop trying to make sense

where there is none to be found.

Switch off that constant stream

of words, images and sounds.

Let the emotions go,

like a child’s balloon, into the sky.

You have no need to hold on

any longer.

Close the shutters.

It’s time for rest.

Stop all the noise,

all the brain pollution.

Stillness

Calm

Peace.

No more thinking how

only doing

and doing nothing is best.

For just a moment

allow nothing to enter –

filter out all but silence.

Be like the marble statue,

so still.

Be like the forest,

so peaceful.

Be like love,

so calming.

Be still, my mind.

Be still.

  1. Ah, I try to tell this to my mind and it’s mostly a losing battle.
