No snow or aliens on the allotment today

I’ve heard the aliens have landed, the rest of the country is 10 feet deep in snow and we can expect to be nuked at any moment – my preferred course of action is to go to the allotment and leave them to it.

I managed to get a surprising amount of work done today, with my ever-willing helper! We started working on the main fruit corner which I’d left on purpose until we had finished the 2 main bays on the same side. So today we were looking at this:

The faint of heart will see this as a weedy hell-scape. It’s a challenge but as we often say in this house ‘little by little, it all gets done’.

As well as tackling the strawberry strangling weeds, I also took a minute to throw in the asparagus plants which I’m hoping will grow up and be a natural border between the two bays instead of using a wooden border which the slugs love so much.

My assistant thought it was a wonderful job!

And as usual, the daylight was quickly running out but we got nearly half of the strawberry patch cleaned up – although I don’t think I actually took a photo of that. You will need to follow me on YouTube if you want to see the live action results, as it were!

So we were the last to leave and were met with the evening sky announcing we should have left 20 minutes earlier.

Our forecast is looking pretty reasonable for the rest of the week so I’m hoping we’ll get back up soon to finish that particular patch – and I’ll take a photo or two to prove it’s completed!

  1. Our weather is not looking too bad either. Maybe we will get a little gardening done too.
