Sowing, potting up – all things seed.
I’ve been trying to stay on top of the seed sowing, potting up etc but already I’ve run into a problem. I don’t have enough window sills and the space I used in the living room last year is not available this year so I am going to have to get very creative with this!
I thought about using the polytunnel but it’s still too cold in there at night to put my seeds in yet so it has to be in the house……somewhere.
This is how it’s been going to far:

You might be wondering why I’m showing you hand warmers – this is one of the things I use to keep my seeds warm and improve germination, along with hot water bottles; I just put them under the seed trays. I don’t have heat mats so I use these and I have to say, they work pretty well and are a lot cheaper!
My seedlings are leggy because we still aren’t getting a ton of daylight so when I found a whole lot of pots (that’s the sink picture), I got them cleaned up and ready for the transplanting.
When seedlings are leggy, I just transplant them nice and deep into their new pots. They are looking very happy in their new home. I have too many of some but lets be honest, they aren’t all going to make it so it will work out fine! This was my brassica tray that I was working on and I have another tray to do which is a nice mix of flowers and veg.
Fingers crossed, I’m actually going to get some OUTDOOR sowing done this week – spring onions, radish and lettuce is on my plan so I’ve been busy today sorting out the back garden in preparation. You may remember it was a total mess as I had to use every pot, chair etc to block the gap in the fence. Well now that is fixed, it’s time to sort everything out. I’m thinking I need new shelving units for the garden…..one day maybe!
