Seedlings, Slugs & Some Success – Gardening Update

In case you think I’ve been sitting in the sun doing nothing, I thought I’d do a little update about what has been happening garden wise this past week.

I’ve tried a couple of different slug traps which used flour, yeast, water and sugar was in one of them. Have to confess, I didn’t have a ton of success although the second recipe (minus the sugar) seemed to work a little better. Also, when I was reminded to hide the traps, that seemed to help too. You can find the recipe I used here:

think if you look up slug trap that should do the trick.

For me, I mostly caught flies!

Seedlings are threatening to take over the house and garden. I have labelled one corner of the garden ‘Seed HQ’ which you can see if you watch the video at the end. That will also show you the first brassicas of the year going in!

One corner of the weedy patch on the plot which I cleared and planted up

The next photos show some progress – the weedy corner has been cleared and the area by the fence now has shallots and onions in it;

I do have that one row fully planted with romanesco cabbages and all year round cauliflowers (I think!). The video will clarify.

And just to prove I did finish the job:

The video can be found here if you are keen:

    1. Yes, things are really kicking off now. Spent a couple of hours there today and only got one part weeded – couch grass and spreading sorrel are a nightmare.
