My allotment taught me..

Many things but this is the most important – read on. I’ve been trying to keep up with the growth on my allotment and it isn’t an easy task even though I love that place. I unlock the gate, swing it open and take a deep breath. I’m in my happy place. I say ‘hello…

Gardening Holds Me Hostage

At least that’s what it’s feeling like at the moment! As we come to the end of June 2026, I’ve realised something – between the garden at home and the allotment plot, I haven’t got a lot of time for other things. That’s unfortunate as I have a lot of other things to do. Having…

Tackling Allotment Jobs (with success!)

I apologise for my lack of presence lately – life has been busy. While the home-schooling continues, so do the appointments, letters and such for my husband as he continues to battle prostate cancer. When you add in the usual things that need done, it doesn’t always leave a lot of time to get gardening…

Girl Discovers ALL US Presidents Are Related – Except One!

Have you heard about this – would love to know your thoughts! If it’s true, it really makes me wonder about the whole voting process…

We have a stupid seagull!

They are normally a lot smarter than this. We often see this particular bird doing what I’m about to show you. It’s a shame really, I can only assume he fell out the nest early and landed on his head. To give you some context, I made a bird feeder which is clear on all…

Dealing with the worst bay on the allotment

From major weeds to a slope, this has it all. I’ve been working very hard to get the plot ready for the season and the time finally came to tackle the worst bay. I didn’t realise it was the worst but now I know for sure. It slopes slightly for some reason, which has always…

Allotment Progress & Other Gardening Excitement

A LOT has been happening in the allotment and garden. Progress on the allotment has been developing at an unusually fast pace (for me anyway). In fact, I’m down to my last 2 bays to do and then I can turn my attention to the paths but something has been very different this time. Sheep…

Can We Be As Caring As Animals Please?

I’m having one of those emotional days and this video sure did tug at them so of course I had to share it with you. Let me know what you think.

News Round Up!

It has come to my attention that I’ve been very busy lately and haven’t shared much of it with you – so it’s time to change that. This post will have lots of pictures, despite me getting ever closer to my WordPress ‘limit’! In the spirit of Christmas, I’ll begin with showing you some tractors…

I’m not a fan of AI but…

When I saw this all I could say was ‘Wow’ If you haven’t already seen this brace yourself. Some of our favourite ‘real’ actors are in this clip – you know the ones who can actually act, don’t all look the same and don’t resemble a human coat hanger. Whoever made this has done a…

I made an advert!

It’s true. Some of you who have been with me for a long time now, will know that I like to dabble in poetry and I have had my very first poetry book published this year. Now, anyone who has a poetry book out will tell you, it’s not going to earn you a million!…

Garlic – done differently!

Instead of just planting garlic in the ground, I tried a few different methods to get it growing and I’m delighted with the results. A couple of years ago, on the allotment, I planted out all my garlic and waited patiently. Sadly, all – and I mean ALL of it, rotted away in the cold…
