Family life and other complicated stuff

Well, where do I start?

I did say recently I’d had a bit of a week – every week? That’s how it feels at this point.

I’m still going through everybody’s older posts to catch up with what I’ve missed so if you have a blog and suddenly see my name appearing on several of your posts, that’s why.

In other news, it might be easier to go by topic, so strap in friends, this could get messy:

Home-school – We are nearing the end of our academic year and I can’t say I’m sorry! The topics we’re doing are good but trying to motivate a 15 year old can be a struggle. Actually, I’ve seen a few home-school blogs/posts in various places, where they are saying they don’t get the usual teenage issues. They’ve skipped the moods, the cheek, the attitude, the ‘can’t be arsed-itis’. Who are these people? Are they lying – or magicians? Am I doing something wrong because I’m getting all of these things and more? Maybe next term will be better (insert your own emoji; eyes rolling, wink face or just plain old LOL).

Health – Oops. Yes, there have been appointments-a-plenty. Some planned, some not. Husband has decided he needs more health complications so we’ve started another journey down another health road.

Dearest Son has had more dental appointments and will have more to come – braces ahoy. I also, finally, got someone to listen to me about the posture/foot pain he has when walking. Cue physio and orthotics. Hopefully that will help when we actually get to that part of the journey.

As for me, I was doing OK. Note the ‘was’. An old familiar injury decided now would be a good time to wake up. Yes, it’s the back, of course. I tried to ignore it but with everyone else to tend to, I decided to become good friends with ibuprofen and we’re getting along swimmingly.

The garden – continues to grow at an alarming rate, both at home and at the plot. Harvests are coming in but so are weeds. I talked about weeds in a recent podcast episode because I really feel we might be missing what they are actually trying to tell us. If you haven’t listened but you have weeds – I recommend you give it your ears. Could save yourself a lot of time and heartache.

Speaking of the podcast, next week’s episode has some very important news so if you are a listener: 1. Thank you and 2. Make sure you don’t miss it.

So with all that going on, I can honestly say the garden is a bit of a mess but the house is worse! I’ll catch up when the holidays come but until then, I’ve learned to ignore what I don’t like!

By the way – does anyone have a trick for re-spooling an electric strimmer?!

Right, I’m off for coffee. I hope your week has been calmer than mine.

Homeschooling and teenagers is not for the faint-hearted.

Been there and I survived to write a post about it:

  2. I’m so pleased to read you are homeschooling – think of the concerns you could have if your teen was in a public school!!!
Wishing you strength and peace as you move forward!

  3. It is a text that mixes weariness, humor, tenderness and resilience. It reflects real life, with its ups and downs, and reminds us that sometimes the best way to get through it all is to laugh a little and move on (with coffee in hand). ☕💚
