This happened just a couple of days ago.
I was in the kitchen doing something (can’t remember what), when my husband called me to tell me my mobile was ringing in the living room. I went through to get it and of course, the person had hung up.
I looked to check the number and saw it was from a mobile. I’ve been receiving a lot of calls lately which, when I pick up, are a recorded message saying they are from the company ‘Indeed Jobs’ and they want to talk to me about a job. I don’t know who it really is or how they got my number but I’ve nothing to do with that company. It’s very annoying and I keep blocking those numbers.
This time however, things felt different so I did something I don’t usually do. I hit the ‘call back’ button. ‘It might be important’, I told myself. It rang for a few seconds then someone answered.
It was a man with an English accent. I told him I’d just received a call from his number so I hit ring back (i.e. didn’t type the number in), and here we were. What he told me has confused me ever since.
He said he had no idea why his phone had called me as he hadn’t even picked up, never-mind used his phone for some time. There was a second or two of confused silence.
‘This is weird’, said I.
He apologised for any trouble/inconvenience but he couldn’t understand what just happened.
We wished each other a pleasant day and weekend, and so on and went our separate ways.
So, how can someone else’s mobile phone ring my phone when it isn’t being used? I don’t know him, he doesn’t know me.
I’m still confused! Has this ever happened to anyone else? Is this a common thing? I can’t understand it at all.
