Life continues to be anything but straightforward at the moment!
Oh my, where do I start? Firstly, to those of you who would normally have seen a visit from me on your blog and haven’t – I apologise! I’ll get round to it eventually is all I can say on that one.
In other news, 2 dental appointments aside this week, we still have no car. After a few days last week of ‘we’ll call you’ to me saying ‘just book me in!!’, the car went to the garage for repairs on Wednesday and I was told I’d get a call to let me know what was going on. When I hadn’t heard anything by late Thursday I thought I’d better call to see what was happening.
They were waiting for parts and couldn’t do anything till they arrived. I take it they’re still waiting. Oh well, there’s always next week!
Now I knew the car was going in on Wednesday morning so my plan for the week had originally been:
Mon – Back to home-school + 1 Dentist appt
Tues – Allotment after Home-school
Wed – Car to garage
Thursday – Nothing special apart from home-school
Fri – 2nd Dentist appt.
Pretty straightforward right? Except on Tuesday, Scooby took ill. He seemed fine in the morning then suddenly – and I mean suddenly, his back legs weren’t working and he couldn’t get up. He managed to eat and drink with me holding the bowls up for him. He didn’t seem to be in pain or even too upset – just a little confused, as were we. Gradually, he managed to get up and walked around a little. I tried to get him out the back door so he could go to the toilet but the steps put him off as he didn’t seem to have full power in the back yet.
We spent a lot of time on the floor with him, just talking and brushing him which he LOVES. Later on, when it was nearly dark, I tempted him with the front garden as I know one of his favourite bushes to jump in is in the front – and that seemed to do the trick! He had a little excited burst of energy – just enough to make him pee then he went back inside.
He couldn’t manage the stairs and normally he sleeps in our bedroom. So I slept on the sofa next to his bed which was on the floor (he couldn’t make it up onto his sofa seat). He seemed quite happy with this arrangement though. I had a little night light on and made it as cosy as I could. I figured it was only fair since he stays with me when I’m not well. (And no, I didn’t sleep well!)
The next morning, I was a little nervous about what I’d find.
He was fine. In fact, you wouldn’t know anything had been wrong the previous day. Since then, he has been perfectly well. We don’t know what happened but will keep a close eye on him.
So the allotment visit obviously didn’t happen on Tuesday. Couldn’t go on Wednesday either as Dearest Son has a group thing on which just started up again this week. So combined with weather and the shopping being a priority I haven’t managed up this week so far. I also need to check my front tyre on my bike 🤦♀️
Here are a few pictures of Scooby when he was feeling better – in some of them you will see he is getting ‘the mad eye’. That means he wants lots of nonsense and playing!

Good news though comes from the garden polytunnel! Cucumbers galore which we are loving.

I checked the weather forecast for today and saw it was to rain later on so I took Dearest Son and Scooby for a fairly long walk to get prescriptions and some fresh fruit shopping etc. Sadly the weather was out by a couple of hours and we got soaked – well Scooby and I did (guess who had the big umbrella?!) So it was into pjs when we got home and Scooby got to play ‘ghosties’ – that’s getting wrapped up in his towel and running round daft to you!

At least the poor weather has made me focus on keeping up with the jobs indoors! Hope you’re week has been a positive one.
