I like to experiment in the kitchen as well as the garden but sometimes they don’t work out too well so I’ll be more careful about YouTube recipes from now on!
I’d made a lovely dinner – some chicken noodley thing with various veg thrown in. I found a packet of some tasty spicy paste the other day, in a dark spot in the cupboard so I thought I’d give it a try. I read the instructions, then did it my own way and it turned out lovely.
So I was encouraged to try a recipe I’d seen on YouTube for dessert.
It was a ‘short’ and was of a guy watching a guy make this dessert. I won’t mention either channel. Anyway, the guy I was watching, made it and did the Mmmmmm as in ‘oh it’s lovely’ so I thought “what could go wrong?”
You take an avocado and beat it to within an inch of it’s life then mix in a spoonful of cocoa powder – at least that’s what I think it was. Looked like it to me anyway. They got chocolate mousse. I got something else.
There I was, in the kitchen, mashing an avocado which I’d managed to find at the stage between rock and black mush by some miracle. Then I put in my cocoa and kept mixing. I admit it looked more like a slightly lumpy brown substance, not entirely unlike faecal matter. I hoped the green lumps wouldn’t be noticed and decided to add a raspberry or two from the garden to disguise the appearance.
I carried in the little pots, quite apprehensively and waited.
Now I won’t use names for obvious reasons but someone did run to the kitchen shouting what I thought was “dirty baskets” but I could be wrong.
Yeah, it was gross and it all went in the bin. I admit I was a little surprised because usually I’m a fan of avocado.
