I tried, I really tried but it wasn’t working for me and so it has to go. The decision has been made. What am I talking about? The DIY polytunnel I made earlier in the year – it’s time to say bye bye.
I wanted to see if I could make a polytunnel out of scrap materials I had lying around between the garden and the allotment. It was doing ok but the roof just didn’t work. The structure was pretty good but again, the roof part was the weak link.
I managed to line the whole thing with bubble wrap for extra warmth but I just couldn’t find a way to line the roof and so I made the decision to save up and buy a small polytunnel to put in it’s place.
The one I’ve bought is actually a little smaller than the one I’ve been using but that is fine as I have also decided to move some of the shelving outside for the salads which were struggling with the extra heat they were getting undercover.
I haven’t finished the change-over process yet but I thought I’d bring you up to speed with how far I have managed.

I hear the country is set to get some nice sunny warm weather tomorrow – except here which is to bathed in fog. Either way, I will be working on building the new polytunnel and putting it in place. Hopefully Monday’s post will have good news and views of the new set-up. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
