There is a LOT to catch up on.
YES – we finally have our car back and that means the allotment is much easier to get to and I can move the many bags of compost out of the front garden. Before I show you what I found on the latest trip to the allotment, let me show you some back garden goings-on!
I wasn’t happy with the shelving I’d built up using odd poles etc from the old staging I’d had lying around so I thought I would dismantle one shelving unit to make another. (It does make sense – a bit)

I ended up with 2 shelves instead of 3 but at least it doesn’t look like it’s leaning over and going to tip everything out! The cardboard box is an experiment – I’ve tipped some old sprouting potatoes in it to see if anything grows for Christmas.
Elsewhere…

I’ll include a link at the bottom of the post, to the video I put up on YouTube showing the work I did – see if you can spot a difference! The polytunnel is still productive although crowded – except for the aubergines. I’ve had flowers but no fruit so I’m wondering if everyone has to get out a paintbrush and hand pollinate them?
I’m happy with the harvests we’re getting especially the chilli peppers which I grow in the living room (although I’m not so keen on the soil gnats they encourage!)
There was a bit of coming and going to get the car back after a week at the garage. I picked it up on Wednesday and noticed the hand-brake didn’t work the same and there was a crunching noise when I turned so it went back in on Thursday and all got sorted out. So up to the allotment we went!
It had been nearly 2 weeks since we’d been up so I was a bit nervous when I opened the gate.

The beans were very definitely needing picked and the sweet peas were doing their best to keep some sort of display going. I was a little disheartened to see sheep sorrel spreading quite happily in more of the bays but I reminded myself that ‘little by little, it all gets done’ – our family motto!

I’m putting a video together which shows the walk-about and finding some of the surprises the allotment had for me!
In the meantime, hope you all manage to enjoy your gardens and enjoy my video – remember to subscribe to me on YouTube if you haven’t already please, would be lovely to see you over there!
