Been making progress on the allotment plot…
On my last visit to the plot, I made a mental list:
- Fix the beans that had fallen over in the last round of strong winds
- Clear the potato patch – weed, get all the potatoes out
- Harvest anything ready
- Pick sweet pea seeds
- Take out some of the pea plants
There was something else but as it was a mental list and not a written down list, I’ve lost it.
I couldn’t get the bean canes back up as they had snapped completely at the base. They were given to me by someone so they weren’t new and I managed to get the canes off the ground at least by leaning them on the support that had been for the peas which also got cleared out! There are still some beans growing so I can’t remove the plants yet.

I had a quick peek inside the polytunnel and quickly zipped it up again – it’s a disaster and needs cleared out completely. A job for another day.
As for the potatoes:

Success! The variety is Desiree and I had suspected a touch of blight a few weeks ago. They do show some scab as I have sandy soil but that is easily peeled off and I have to confess I have a fondness for this variety far above anything else I’ve tried!
