Garden Challenge – 7 Days 7 Jobs: Day 1

I came up with the idea of doing a job a day in the garden, for 7 days. Those little jobs, the ones we keep putting off because we’ll ‘get to it someday’ – you know the ones, right? Problem was – my back. Yes, it had been strained a bit on the Sunday before I filmed the first day and during filming, I bent to pick something up and felt a ‘PING’ – never good. So I’ve spent the last 2 weeks in a lot of pain……insert stronger pain killers and a trip to the physio, but not until after the 7 days were done! Not complaining, just giving you a bit of background! It’s also a reminder to me that I need to be really careful when working in the garden.

So, I decided to start with tidying something small. The corner in the back garden, where the fence has come down and still isn’t fixed, had a little problem. I’d decided to try growing some potatoes in a box for Christmas. Nothing fancy. Nothing planned (obviously!)

I had a few left over and thought I’d experiment since I keep seeing people on YouTube growing for Christmas and I’ve never done it. Problem was, my box was broken and after the last storm (Amy), there wasn’t much box holding them in anymore.

Since I’d moved the apple trees out of their tubs and into the ground (after removing 2 other non-productive fruit trees), I had a tub to spare. I tried my best to lift them in neatly but, it’s soil and potatoes – what’s a girl to do?!

If you’d like to see the video of how job 1 turned out, you can find it below but I have one thing to ask you: Could you please subscribe to my channel? I’m trying to get to 500 subs and it’s one step forward, 2 back at the moment so I’d really appreciate a few more (I’m at 448 at the time of writing). Thank you and if you want the background on job number 2, come back tomorrow!
